Configuration

After installation, you will be guided through an initial setup process.

Initial Setup & Syncing

1. Data Sync: Upon first launch, SearchJet will begin syncing your store's data (products, collections, etc.). This process happens automatically in the background.
   • Action: Wait for the initial sync to complete. You can usually see a status indicator in the app's dashboard.
2. Dashboard Overview: Once synced, the app dashboard will show key metrics like the number of products indexed, popular search terms, and search analytics.

Configuring Search Behavior

Navigate to the "Settings" or "Configuration" section within the SearchJet app in your Shopify admin.

1. Search Rules: Define how search results are ranked.
   • Boosting: Boost products from specific collections, by certain vendors, or with specific tags to the top of search results.
   • Synonyms: Add synonyms for common search terms (e.g., "cellphone" = "mobile phone", "sneakers" = "trainers"). This dramatically improves recall.
2. Typo Tolerance: Configure how the search handles misspellings. SearchJet's AI is typically very good at this by default.
3. Facets & Filters: Choose which product attributes customers can use to filter search results.
   • Common Facets: Product Type, Vendor, Tags, Price Range, Color, Size, etc.
   • Action: Enable the facets most relevant to your product catalog

Customizing the Search Interface

1. Autocomplete Suggestions: The app will automatically inject a customizable search bar into your theme. In the settings, you can often adjust:
   • The number of suggestions shown.
   • Whether to show product images in the autocomplete.
   • The placeholder text in the search input field.
2. Search Results Page: The app provides a default, optimized search results page. You can customize its look and feel to better match your theme directly from the SearchJet admin settings.
