Configuration

After installation, you will be guided through an initial setup process to configure SearchJet for your store.

Initial Setup and Syncing

Upon first launch, SearchJet will begin syncing your store data including products, collections, pages, and blog posts. You can monitor the sync progress from the SearchJet dashboard.

  • Data Sync: The initial sync indexes all your products, variants, collections, and content pages. This runs in the background and does not affect your store performance.
  • Sync Status: Check the dashboard for real-time sync progress. You will see the number of items indexed and any errors encountered.
  • Re-sync: After adding new products or making bulk changes, trigger a re-sync from the dashboard to update the search index.

Configuring Search Behavior

Customize how search works for your store:

  • Instant Results: Enable or disable the dropdown that shows results as customers type.
  • Minimum Characters: Set how many characters before search activates. Two or three is recommended for stores.
  • Results Limit: Control how many results appear in the dropdown. Eight is the default, but you can increase it for stores with large catalogs.

Customizing the Search Interface

Match the search widget to your store branding. Under SearchJet Settings, Appearance, you can change the search bar color, border radius, dropdown background, and text colors. The widget auto-detects your theme primary color by default.

For advanced customization, you can override the default styles with custom CSS. The search widget uses scoped class names that will not conflict with your theme styles.
